The Singapore Army and the Indonesian National Army (TNI-AD) conducted their annual bilateral exerise, codenamed Safkar Indopura, from 4 to 16 Sep in Indonesia.

About 2000 soldiers from the 3rd Singapore Infantry Brigade, the 411st Infantry Battalion and 413rd Infantry Battalion of TNI-AD's Strategic Reserve Command (KOSTRAD) were involved.

The exercise, 18th in the series, was a combined brigade full troop exercise. It included a war-gaming simulation exercise which allowed the two armies to familiarise themselves with each other's operational and training procedures.

The closing ceremony for Exercise Safkar Indopura was officiated by Chief of Staff of the TNI-AD, General Djoko Santoso and witnessed by Singapore's Chief of Army, Major-General Desmond Kuek at Wonosari in Central Java on 13 Sep.

The successful conduct of the exercise reaffirmed the excellent ties between the two armies and underscored the good cooperation between the armed forces of both countries.
