Reflecting the growing defence co-operation between Singapore and India, both countries signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on 17 Jan.

The MOU is for a joint army exercise, which will be held in India from Feb through Apr.

India's High Commissioner to Singapore, Mr Alok Prasad, and Chief of Army, Major-General (MAJ-GEN) Desmond Kuek, signed the MOU on behalf of the Indian Army and the Singapore Army.

Involving armour and artillery units from both armies, the armour exercise will be held at Babina Field Firing Range, about 400 kilometres southeast of New Delhi, while the artillery exercise will be conducted concurrently at Devlali Field Firing Range, which is about 200 kilometres northeast of Mumbai.

The forthcoming exercises will provide the Singapore Army with a valuable opportunity to train with the Indian Army, and will enhance mutual understanding and inter-operability between the two armies.
