S'PORE, INDIA ARMIES IN BILATERAL ARMOUR EXERCISE
24 Mar 2009
The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) took part in a bilateral armour exercise, codenamed Bold Kurukshetra, with the Indian Army, from 2 to 21 Mar in central India.
Now in its fifth edition, this year's exercise involved more than 500 soldiers from the 42nd Battalion, Singapore Armoured Regiment and Headquarters, 4th Singapore Armoured Brigade. Troops from both armies conducted joint planning and training, executed integrated manoeuvres, and carried out a live-firing exercise.
As part of his introductory visit to India, Chief of Defence Force, Lieutenant-General Desmond Kuek met the SAF and Indian Army troops during the exercise on 5 Mar.
This series of annual exercises between Singapore and India underscores the excellent defence ties between both countries. Apart from joint exercises, the two Armed Forces also interact through regular visits, courses, seminars and other professional exchanges.
