The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) are conducting Exercise Singaroo 09 - a bilateral maritime exercise - from 18 to 25 Sep.

Held in the South China Sea, the exercise will see both navies undertaking operations in areas of maritime surveillance, air defence and anti-submarine warfare, to enhance their interoperability.

A total of five vessels are participating in this year's edition of Exercise Singaroo. Three vessels are from the RSN RSS Intrepid (frigate), RSS Valour (missile corvette) and RSS Conqueror (submarine). The RAN is participating with two ships - the HAS Arunta (guided missile frigate) and HMAS Bathurst (patrol boat).

In addition, aircraft from the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) will provide anti-surface warfare support for the exercise.

This year's exercise is the 13th in the series. The long-running bilateral maritime exercise is testament to the warm and friendly defence ties shared by the two countries.

Besides Exercise Singaroo, the RSN and RAN interact in a wide range of activities from bilateral to multilateral exercises, as well as other professional exchanges.
