The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN)'s Landing Ship Tank (LST) RSS Resolution left for the Gulf on 7 Sep.

Chief of Navy, Rear-Admiral Chew Men Leong, officiated at the send-off ceremony for the LST and its 175-strong crew at Changi Naval Base.

Led by Lieutenant-Colonel Tan Bian, RSS Resolution will undertake tasks such as protecting the waters around key oil terminals, conducting patrols and boarding operations, as well as providing logistics support for coalition vessels and helicopters during its three-month long deployment.

RSS Resolution's deployment to the Gulf was Singapore's latest contribution to the multi-national effort in support of the reconstruction of Iraq.

Since 2003, the SAF has completed four LST deployments, five KC-135 aircraft deployments and one C-130 transport aircraft deployment to the Gulf.
