NEW CREED FOR WARRANT OFFICERS

Warrant officers and specialists (WOSpec) of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) gathered at Pasir Laba Camp on 21 Sep to witness the launch of the WOSpec vision and mission, the Warrant Officers' creed and the Specialists' creed.
SAF Sergeant Major Senior Warrant Officer (SWO) Francis Ng led the Services' Chief Warrant Officers in reciting the new creed, witnessed by Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant General (LG) Ng Yat Chung.
According to SWO Ng, this was the result of a third-generation WOSpec Transformation study that began in November 2004.
"In the study, we found that, for us to move to the next level, we needed something to guide us," said SWO Ng.
The launch was held in conjunction with the SAF Sergeant Majors and chief warrant officers' Learning Day. Its aim was to enhance their knowledge, and allow the Warrant Officers to network and strengthen their camaraderie.
An Instructional Development course was also conducted to train the Warrant Officers to become better instructors and continue to add value to the SAF.
The event was well-received and there are plans to have a learning day every quarter.
"We need to document all these things learnt," said SWO Ng, "so that when we eventually retire, the knowledge will not retire with us."
