Minister for Defence, Mr Teo Chee Hean, unveiled a new logo for the Infantry Training Institute (ITI) on 11 Aug.
ITI was formed last year, as part of the Army's transformation to a third-generation force.
It is the merger of the Basic Combat Training Centre (BCTC), 1st People's Defence Force (1 PDF) Training Centre, and Infantry Training Centre (ITC).
ITI looks after the training of about 30,000 Infantry and Guards Operationally-Ready National Servicemen (NSmen).
Head of Training at ITI, Major (MAJ) Sunny Tan, explained the logo's design: "The bayonets and the panther reflect the merging of Headquarters Infantry and the 9th Division in the Army's transformation to a third-generation Army."
"The three bayonets, shaped in the acronym of 'ITI', represent the three units under ITI. They are Headquarters ITI, the Basic Combat Training Centre (BCTC) and the Advanced Combat Training Centre (ACTC)."
"These units are now forged together to pursue a common vision, of becoming the premier institute in training Operationally-Ready NS infantry battalions."
MAJ Tan also explained that the figurehead of a panther in motion captures the dynamism of ITI, reflecting 9th Division's motto, 'Forging Ahead'.
"Together, the logo epitomises ITI's mission of enhancing the NS battalions' 'Skill to Win' and 'Will to Fight', and providing a positive NS experience for all in the battalion," MAJ Tan added.
Currently, HQ ITI and BCTC are housed at Pasir Laba Camp, while ACTC is at Tanjong Gul Camp.
MAJ Tan said the plan is to house all three components in Jurong Camp in the next couple of years.
