Come 2013, soldiers in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) will be able to train in a new three-story indoor shooting range dubbed the Multi Mission Range Complex (MMRC).

Chief of Army Major-General Chan Chun Sing officiated at the ground-breaking ceremony for the MMRC at Pasir Laba on 4 Oct.

The MMRC will be a one-stop marksmanship training centre capable of simulating day and night shooting environments. It will house seven shooting ranges, including a Multi-Tier Range which allows soldiers to fire at ground targets from various levels of a simulated building.

In addition, the facility will include an Urban Operations Range which allows for the training of urban live-firing complete with video feedback capabilities, as well as a Support Weapon Range for training soldiers in sniper weapons and machine guns.

Among other things, the MMRC will be equipped with state-of-the-art electronic and video target systems, a Shooter Aid Trainer that will help in the coaching of soldiers and Computer-Generated Imagery technology to provide realistic scenario-based training.

The SAF currently has 18 firing ranges located at Mandai, Nee Soon, SAFTI, Poyan, Pulau Tekong, Bukit Timah and Seletar.
