About 400 personnel from the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) took part in a bilateral exercise, code-named Malapura, in the Malacca Strait from 10 to 19 Dec.

Hosted by the RMN, this year's exercise saw the RSN deploy a frigate, a missile corvette and a patrol vessel, while the RMN took part with a frigate, a corvette and an offshore patrol vessel.

The two navies have been taking part in Ex Malapura since 1984. The exercise provides an excellent opportunity to enhance the professional ties and promote mutual understanding between the RSN and the RMN.

The Fleet Commanders of both navies, Rear-Admiral Ng Chee Peng and Vice-Admiral Dato' Ahmad Kamarulzaman bin Ahmad
Badaruddin, officiated at the exercise closing ceremony on 19 Dec.
