The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) are currently conducting a bilateral exercise from 14 to 21 Jan.

The exercise, code-named Pelican, is hosted by the RSN and also marks the 28th in the series between both navies.

RSN Fleet commander Rear-Admiral Tan Kai Hoe and RBN commander Colonel Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit officiated the opening ceremony on 15 Jan.

As part of the exercise, personnel from three RSN ships - RSS Vigour, RSS Sea Tiger and RSS Fearless and three RBN ships - KDB Waspada, KDB Pejuang and KDB Perwira will be conducting a series of tactical discussions and training exercises encompassing all dimensions of modern naval warfare including anti-surface, anti-submarine, anti-air and maritime air operations.

Exercise Pelican will enhance the mutual co-operation and understanding between the RSN and RBN, through the development of joint operational doctrines and naval tactics.

The exercise also strengthens the camaraderie and personal ties between the officers and men of the two navies, and enhances the already close ties between the RSN and RBN.
