MULTILATERAL ARMY EXERCISE IN FULL SWING

A Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA) exercise, code-named Suman Warrior 05, is now taking place in Kuantan, Malaysia.
.
Soldiers from Headquarters 7th Singapore Infantry Brigade (7 SIB) and their counterparts from Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom are participating in this annual exercise.

The objective of Exercise Suman Warrior 05 is to elevate the inter-operability of the FPDA armies, so that they have a better understanding of one another's organisation and capabilities.

Co-operation amongst the forces also promotes the exchange of professional expertise and bolsters mutual understanding.

This year's highlights includes Non-Combatant Evacuation Operations planning and discussions. The two-week exercise ends on 4th October.

Formed in 1971, the FPDA is an integral part of the regional security architecture. The Singapore Armed Forces' participation in regular FPDA exercises affirms its commitment to the the FPDA.
