MALAYSIAN KING VISITS SAF ARMOUR HEADQUARTERS

The King of Malaysia, His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong XII, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibni Al-Marhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail, visited the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Armour headquarters on 24 Jan.

Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin is in Singapore on a three-day state visit at the invitation of President S R Nathan.

Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean hosted the King's visit to the SAF Armour headquarters at Sungei Gedong.

Accompanied by his son the Crown Prince of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra, and the Malaysian Home Affairs Minister, Dato Seri Azmi Bin Khalid, the King toured several facilities like the Armour Simulator Centre, where he tried out the Armour Gunnery Tactical Simulator.

Next, he witnessed a mobility demonstration of the SAF's armoured fighting vehicles and a firepower demonstration of the Bionix Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFV).

The highlight of the King's visit was when he took to the wheels of a Bionix IFV.

To commemorate his visit to the Armour headquarters, the King was presented with the SAF's Master Parachutist Honorary Wing.
