The former Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Herman Prayitno, was conferred the Meritorious Service Medal (Military) on 4 Jan.

ACM Prayitno received the medal for his outstanding contributions to enhancing ties between the Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU) and the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF).

As Chief of Staff of the TNI-AU, ACM Prayitno initiated professional exchanges and interaction programmes between both air forces. These initiatives, such as the Annual Staff Meetings and Safety Exchange Programme, have enhanced the inter-operability and camaraderie between the personnel of both air forces.

Under his leadership, the longstanding and close cooperation between the TNI-AU and the RSAF has grown from strength to strength.

Before the investiture ceremony, ACM Prayitno called on Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean, Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Desmond Kuek, and Chief of Air Force Major-General Ng Chee Khern.
