US PACOM COMMANDER RECEIVES MILITARY AWARD

The Commander of the United States Pacific Command (US PACOM) Admiral (ADM) Timothy J Keating was conferred Singapore's prestigious military award, the Pingat Jasa Gemilang or Meritorious Service Medal (Military), by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean on 12 Aug.
ADM Keating received the medal in recognition of his outstanding contributions in strengthening ties between US PACOM and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). His efforts have been instrumental in promoting greater professional cooperation and exchanges between the two forces.
Under ADM Keating, military cooperation between the SAF and US PACOM in maritime security matters has increased. Both forces have also embarked on joint training and exercises, to help enhance understanding and interoperability.
Before the investiture, ADM Keating, who is in Singapore from 11 to 12 Aug, called on Mr Teo and Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Desmond Kuek.
