US ARMY CHIEF OF STAFF RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS MEDAL

The Chief of Staff of the United States Army, General (GEN) George William Casey Jr., was conferred Singapore's prestigious military award, the Pingat Jasa Gemilang (Tentera), or the Meritorious Service Medal (Military), by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean at an investiture held at the Ministry of Defence on 26 Aug.
GEN Casey was awarded the medal for his significant contributions in enhancing the bilateral ties between the United States Army and the Singapore Army.
Under his leadership, professional interactions between the two armies have expanded at all levels, with regular engagements in a wide range of activities, such as courses and visits.
These extensive interactions have strengthened the professional ties and friendship between the personnel of both armies.
During his two-day visit to Singapore from 25 to 26 Aug, GEN Casey also called on Mr Teo, Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Desmond Kuek and Chief of Army Major-General Neo Kian Hong.
