THAI SUPREME COMMANDER RECEIVES TOP MILITARY AWARD

Supreme Commander of the Royal Thai Armed Forces (RTARF), General (GEN) Chaisit Shinawatra, was conferred Singapore's highest military award, the Distinguished Service Order (Military), by President S R Nathan at the Istana on 16 Aug.
GEN Chaisit received the award for his outstanding contributions in fostering excellent ties between the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the RTARF.
With his support and guidance, the RTARF continues to provide valuable support for the SAF's exercises in Thailand.
Professional interactions between both armed forces have also increased in scope and depth. The SAF and RTARF regularly engage in a broad spectrum of bilateral and multilateral activities that include military exercises and other professional exchange programmes.
Before the investiture, GEN Chaisit called on Minister for Defence, Mr Teo Chee Hean.
