The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) is participating in an annual multilateral naval exercise, codenamed Exercise Kakadu, from 21 Jul to 8 Aug.

Hosted by the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), this three-week exercise is being held off the coast of Darwin, Australia. Two missile corvettes from the RSN will conduct naval manoeuvres with warships from Australia, France, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea and Thailand.

A Fokker-50 Maritime Patrol Aircraft from the Republic of Singapore Air Force and aircraft from the other participating countries will also be taking part in the exercise.

Exercise Kakadu aims to strengthen interoperability among the region's defence forces through conventional maritime training.

Representatives from Indonesia, the Philippines, South Korea and Vietnam are observing this year's exercise.

The RSN's missile corvettes are deployed alongside ships from other participating navies.
