The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and the Royal Swedish Navy (RSwN) are holding their annual mine countermeasure exchange programme in Stockholm from 4 to 14 Jun.

This bilateral event, codenamed Lejon Singa, marks the 12th edition in the series.

Colonel Tan Wee Beng, Commander of the RSN's Coastal Command, and Captain Jan Thornqvist, Commander of the RSwN's 4th Naval Warfare Flotilla, officiated at the opening ceremony on 4 Jun.

This year's programme aims to consolidate mutual understanding in areas such as mine countermeasure training and diving, as well as neutralising explosive ordnance.

Both navies will also improve their capabilities in using modern methods in clearing improvised explosives and other fields of mine countermeasures and devices.

The programme reflects the close, long-standing cooperation between the navies of Singapore and Sweden.

It also strengthens the professional ties and friendship between the two navies.
