The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and the Royal Swedish Navy (RSwN) are conducting a mine countermeasure (MCM) exchange programme, code-named Lejon Singa in Singapore.
RSN personnel from the MCM squadron and the Naval Diving Unit are taking part in this annual programme with their RSwN counterparts.
This exchange programme underscores the good relations and the longstanding cooperation between both navies, and seeks to enhance their capabilities in areas such as the neutralisation of underwater mines and other mine countermeasure tactics.
"I am very happy that our navies, in spite of the long distance that separates us geographically, have managed to develop such a fruitful and rewarding relationship," said Commander of the RSwN's 4th Naval Warfare Flotilla, Captain Jan Th rnqvist.
"This very much derives from the fruitful exchanges we had in different exercises through the years."
This year's exercise is being held from 25 Nov to 4 Dec.
