RSN IN MULTILATERAL NAVAL EXERCISE
19 Aug 2010
The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) is participating in a three-week-long multilateral naval exercise, from 16 Aug to 3 Sep, off the coast of Darwin in Australia.
Hosted by the Royal Australian Navy, Exercise KAKADU 2010 aims to enhance interoperability among the region's naval forces. The other participating countries are Australia, Japan, New Zealand and Thailand.
RSN's Formidable-class frigate RSS Tenacious will be participating in the exercise for the first time, along with missile corvette RSS Vigour. The exercise will see the RSN ships conduct naval manoeuvres as well as anti-air, anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare training.
Observers from India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Papua New Guinea will be present at the exercise.
First held in 1993, this tenth edition of the exercise underscores the good working relationship and professional cooperation among the RSN and the other exercise participants.
