RSN FRIGATE IN INDONESIAN FLEET REVIEW
20 Aug 2009
A Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) Formidable-class frigate, RSS Tenacious, joined ships from 15 other countries in a sail-past at the Manado Bay on 19 Aug, as part of the Indonesian Fleet Review (IFR) 2009 held in Manado and Bitung, North Sulawesi from 12 to 20 Aug.
Chief of Navy Rear-Admiral Chew Men Leong attended the IFR from 17 to 20 Aug, at the invitation of the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy Admiral Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno.
The IFR, last held in 1998, enhances interactions among personnel from the various navies through ship visits and other professional exchanges. The RSN's participation in the Fleet Review underscores the warm and friendly defence ties between Singapore and Indonesia, fostered through regular bilateral exercises and interactions.
RSS Tenacious will also participate in a passage exercise with the Indonesian Navy in its return journey to Singapore.
