RSAF50@SINGAPORE AIRSHOW 2018
If you love aircraft and all things aviation, you're in for a real treat this month. The Republic of Singapore Air Force's (RSAF's) fighter jets will be executing 15 adrenaline-inducing aerial manoeuvres at Singapore Airshow (SA) 2018!
Performed by one F-15SG and two F-16Cs, the RSAF's aerial display will last about 15 minutes. In commemoration of the RSAF's golden jubilee, this will be the first time that the fighter jets are doing a three-ship show.
So what are you waiting for? Mark your calendar now!
Major Chang Haw Ning, leader of the eight-man Aerial Display Team, takes us behind the scenes.
1) This brand-new team only had a couple of months to train. "We're planning to do 15 manoeuvres in 15 minutes, and trying to execute one manoeuvre per minute is going to be very challenging.
We have less time to train so we're under a lot of pressure, but we want to put up a good show."
2) His favourite display is the never-before-performed 3-Ship Dedication Pass. "This involves the F-15SG doing a fly-past, and the two F-16Cs performing a spiral formation with smoke. It's very dynamic and challenging because the F-16Cs must execute it in symmetry.
But done properly, it's a very graceful and grand manoeuvre."
CAN'T MAKE IT FOR SA 2018?
Fret not, the RSAF will be bringing some of their exhibits to five heartland locations. Expect to see special highlights and demonstrations unique to each venue, including live helicopter operations at the Sembawang site. You can also catch an exciting aerial performance at the RSAF50 @Marina Barrage over the National Day weekend!
And stay tuned to the RSAF's social media channels* for the RSAF50 parade! To be held on 1 Sep in conjunction with the RSAF's anniversary, the parade will feature a mobile column, a salute-to-the-nation flypast and the first public appearance of the Multi-Role Tanker Transport.
