Following the opening of a new Guardroom and the smooth implementation of personnel access control measures at Defence Technology Towers (DTT) Complex on 23 Sep, a new Vehicle Check area has begun operations with effect from 7 Oct.
In line with the opening of the Vehicle Check Area, the internal traffic flow has also been adjusted to facilitate a better vehicular flow and access control within the Complex. There will be a single point of entry and exit at the Main Gate, with the closure of Gate A.
Head Operations and Security of DTT Complex, Mr Yong Choon Fong, said that all permanent staff and visitors entering DTT Complex would have their vehicles checked at one of the three inspection bays at the Vehicle Check Area, before they could proceed to their respective destinations.
Ms Chia Limett, a visitor who drove into the complex on 11 Oct, did not mind having her car checked.
"I think it is necessary for vehicles and people who come in to be checked," she said, adding that it would be dangerous if visitors carried big haversacks without being checked.
Ms Chia also noted that the Regimental Police (RP) on duty were very alert.
While the vehicle checks did not cause any problem, passengers alighting just outside Gate B along Depot Road are a concern to Mr Yong. Many vehicles could be observed dropping passengers just outside the gate and causing traffic congestion.
"We have communicated with our permanent staff and visitors that vehicles are prohibited from waiting or alighting passengers at the Main Entrance for the safety of pedestrians and to prevent accidents and traffic congestion," said Mr Yong.
The Traffic Police has been enlisted to take the necessary actions in line with traffic regulations against traffic offenders.
