NATIONAL DAY AWARDS FOR MORE THAN 620 DEFENCE PERSONNEL

A total of 624 personnel from the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) received medals for their outstanding work performance and dedication at the National Day Awards Investiture on 11 Nov.
The awards comprised 53 Commendation Medals, 118 Efficiency Medals and 453 Long Service Medals.
The recipients received their awards in two separate ceremonies, officiated by Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean and Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence Ng Eng Hen.
Senior MINDEF officials and SAF officers, as well as spouses of the award recipients were also present at the investiture.
At an earlier National Day Awards ceremony officiated by President S R Nathan on 1 Nov, 28 senior SAF officers received the Public Administration Medal (Military). Ten officers were awarded the Public Administration Medal (Military) (Silver) and another 18, the Public Administration Medal (Military) (Bronze).
In addition, Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Desmond Kuek was also awarded the Pingat Jasa Gemilang (Tentera) or Meritorious Service Medal (Military).
The award is given to any member of the SAF for exceptionally distinguished service or extraordinary merit in military command or staff work.
