MALAYSIAN DEFENCE FORCE CHIEF VISITS SINGAPORE

The Chief of Defence Force of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), General (GEN) Tan Sri Dato' Sri Azizan bin Ariffin, called on Acting Minister for Defence and Minister for Education Dr Ng Eng Hen and Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Desmond Kuek on 16 Nov at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) building.

GEN Azizan is in Singapore for a two-day introductory visit which ends on 17 Nov. During his stay, he will visit the Singapore Armed Forces' Armour Training Institute at Sungei Gedong Camp and the Republic of Singapore Air Forces' Flight Simulator Centre at Paya Lebar Air Base.

His visit underscores the long-standing relationship between Singapore and Malaysia.

Both armed forces interact extensively through bilateral exercises such Exercise Semangat Bersatu, Exercise Malapura and multilateral activities such as the Five Power Defence Arrangements. The two forces have also been working together to enhance maritime security through the Malacca Straits Patrols.
