The Chief of Army of the Malaysian Armed Forces, General (GEN) Tan Sri Muhammad Ismail bin Haji Jamaluddin, called on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean, at the Ministry of Defence this morning.

GEN Tan Sri Muhammad Ismail was in Singapore on a farewell visit from 5 to 7 Apr 2010. He had earlier called on the Chief of Defence Force Major-General Neo Kian Hong and Chief of Army Brigadier-General Chan Chun Sing, after inspecting a Guard of Honour.

GEN Tan Sri Muhammad Ismail's visit underscored the longstanding defence relations between Singapore and Malaysia. Under his leadership as Chief of Army, the Singapore and Malaysian armies have strengthened their ties through a wide range of activities, which included bilateral exercises and professional interactions. These activities have also enhanced mutual understanding and friendship among the personnel of the two armies.
