LOGISTICIANS CONDUCT FIRST CONVOY BATTLE DRILL

Assistant Chief of the General Staff (Logistics) Colonel Ngien Hoon Ping led 120 logisticians, including senior commanders, officer cadets from the School of Logistics (SOL) and trainees from the Supply and Transport Centre (STC) in this live-firing exercise.
The purpose was to give logisticians a first-hand experience of being engaged by 'enemy troops' while travelling in a convoy, and what actions they should take to counter such an attack.
Military conflicts and operations in other countries have shown that logistics convoys in the combat zone are susceptible to enemy ambushes.
This dispels the notion that logisticians, who are usually found at the rear of military operations, will not encounter combat situations.
Responding to such possible threats, the Army Logistics Training Centre collated experiences from past integrated convoy operating procedures during In-Camp Training, and examined the current Infantry doctrines, to derive the Convey Battle Drill tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs). These TTPs and the live-firing will soon be introduced in the NS training system.
And SOL and STC will progressively incorporate this drill into their training syllabus.
