INDONESIAN AIR FORCE CHIEF OF STAFF CONFERRED MILITARY AWARD

Acting Minister for Defence and Minister for Education Dr Ng Eng Hen conferred the Pingat Jasa Gemilang (Tentera) or Meritorious Service Medal (Military), one of Singapore's prestigious military awards on the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU), Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Subandrio at the Ministry of Defence on 28 Sep.
ACM Subandrio received the medal for his significant contributions in enhancing relations between the TNI-AU and the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF).
Under his leadership, the two air forces have fostered close ties in bilateral exercises such as Exercise Elang Indopura and Exercise Camar Indopura.
ACM Subandrio also initiated professional exchanges and interaction programmes between the TNI-AU and the RSAF.
He strengthened mutual understanding and interoperability between the two air forces when he established the Cadets and Instructors Exchange Programme as a platform for personnel from both air forces to share ideas and experiences.
During his visit to Singapore from 27 to 28 Sep, ACM Subandrio called on Dr Ng, Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Desmond Kuek and Chief of Air Force Major-General Ng Chee Khern.
