Minister for Defence, Mr Teo Chee Hean, met his Indian counterpart Pranab Mukherjee, India's Minister of Home Affairs Shivraj Patil, as well as other senior officials on 15 Mar, as part of his three-day visit to India.

At the meetings, Mr Teo and the Indian leaders discussed bilateral defence relations, the regional security situation, and terrorism.

Defence interactions have grown between the two countries, with bilateral army, navy and air force exercises as well as the conduct of regular policy dialogues.

During his visit to India, Mr Teo also observed the first joint exercise conducted by both armies.

This is Mr Teo's second visit to India as Minister for Defence. During his introductory visit in October 2003, he had signed the Defence Co-operation Agreement, which provides for co-operation in a wide range of activities.

Mr Teo will return to Singapore on 16 Mar.
