CHINESE DEFENCE MINISTER CALLS ON MINISTER TEO

GEN Cao, who is also Vice-Chairman of the Central Military Commission and State Councillor, is in Singapore for a three-day introductory visit from 13 to 15 Apr.
While in Singapore, GEN Cao will call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew at the Istana, and visit Changi Naval Base.
Defence officials from Singapore and China have visited each other regularly.
Mr Teo's last visit to China was in November 2005.
Former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Tony Tan and former Chinese Minister of National Defence GEN Chi Haotian also visited each other in 1997 and 1998.
