Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General (LG) Desmond Kuek has been conferred the Knight Grand Cross of the Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant.

He received the Thai royal decoration from General (GEN) Boonsrang Niumpradit, the Supreme Commander of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, who presented the award on behalf of His Majesty the King of Thailand.

LG Kuek is in Thailand from 30 Jul to 2 Aug for the ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Force Informal Meeting. Together with the other chiefs, LG Kuek called on the Thai Prime Minister and Defence Minister Samak Sundaravej.

The presentation of the Thai royal decoration to LG Kuek underscores the excellent and longstanding defence relationship between Singapore and Thailand. The armed forces of both countries interact regularly in bilateral and multilateral exercises, courses and other professional exchanges.
