Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General (LG) Desmond Kuek is on a two-day introductory visit to Indonesia from 12 to 13 Jul.

LG Kuek was hosted by Commander-in-Chief of the Indonesian National Defence Forces (TNI) Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Djoko Suyanto. He also called on Defence Minister Dr Juwono Sudarsono.

During his visit, LG Kuek will co-chair the Combined Annual Report Meeting of SAF-TNI interactions with ACM Suyanto.

LG Kuek's visit reflects the long-standing defence ties between Singapore and Indonesia that began over 30 years ago.

Defence cooperation has since grown significantly, and includes arrangements such as the Indonesia-Singapore Coordinated Patrols, which have been in place since 1992 to enhance maritime security in the Singapore Strait.

There is also a full range of exercises across all three Services that help strengthen mutual understanding and build up the interoperability of both armed forces.
