Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen attended the 12th Defence Services Asia Exhibition and Conference or DSA 10 on 19 Apr, as part of his three-day visit to Malaysia.

At the exhibition, Dr Ng viewed the integrated command and control systems at the Sapura Group booth and was briefed on the different maritime, engineering and defence-related services that Boustead Naval Shipyard provides.

The four-day defence and security exhibition showcases the latest in defence equipment and technology, weaponry and advancements in security and safety.

DSA 10 is regarded as one of the premier events for the global defence and security industry, proven by its excellent track record over 22 years.

The biennial exhibition, which first started in 1988, is an international defence and security exhibition as well as a business and trade event. This year's edition brings together more than 200 delegates comprising defence ministers, military and defence and security industry players from over 40 countries, including Australia, United Kingdom, United States of America and the Asia-Pacific Region. It is expected to attract about 25,000 trade visitors this year.

Also attending the DSA 10 were Permanent Secretary for Defence Chiang Chie Foo, Chief of Defence Force Major-General Neo Kian Hong, Chief of Air Force Brigadier-General Ng Chee Meng and Chief of Army Brigadier-General Chan Chun Sing.

While in Malaysia, Dr Ng met with Malaysian Minister of Defence, Dato' Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi, at the sidelines of the exhibition after touring the DSA 10 held at Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur.

As part of his visit, Dr Ng also met Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Dato' Seri Idris Jala, and Minister of Transport, Dato' Sri Ong Tee Keat.

On 20 Apr, Dr Ng is scheduled to meet Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Jamil Khir bin Baharom.

Dr Ng's visit to Malaysia is part of the regular ministerial-level exchanges between Singapore and Malaysia. His visit underscores the long-standing defence ties between the two countries. The Singapore Armed Forces and Malaysian Armed Forces also interact regularly through bilateral and multilateral exercises as well as professional exchanges.
