BIG ON FAMILY

Come 30 May, SAFRA members and their families who live in the west will have access to a clubhouse right in their neighbourhood. SAFRA Jurong, the result of a recommendation of the fourth committee to Recognise the Contribution of Operationally Ready National Servicemen (RECORD IV), will cater to the needs of NSmen with young families.

The new SAFRA Jurong is all about fun for the whole family. The clubhouse is home to Kidz Amaze -
a three-storey indoor playground with one of the highest spiral slides in Asia and other unique family attractions including BazGym Gymnastics School's 9,000 sq ft children's gymnastics hall, which is equipped with Singapore's first in-ground tumbling trampoline. It also boasts the usual clubhouse facilities with a twist. The swimming pool has a dedicated children's area with interactive features - a first for SAFRA clubhouses. Since the different areas of the pool are in close proximity, adults and children can interact freely.

And with the EnergyOne gym overlooking the swimming pool, parents can work up a sweat while keeping an eye on their children.

On 30 and 31 May, the first weekend of the mid-year school holidays, SAFRA Jurong will be organising an open house in conjunction with National Family Celebrations (NFC) 2009. The NFC is an annual national campaign organised by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports to celebrate the importance of family.

Expect to see the clubhouse chock-a-block with activities ranging from magic shows to a colouring contest. SAFRA clubhouse staff will also get in on the act. In the run up to the open house, they have been picking up balloon-sculpting and origami, among other skills, in preparation to entertain and engage clubhouse patrons.

Kidz Amaze

The interactive three-storey play space is full of activities plus nooks-and-crannies that the young ones will love. Covering 17,000 sq ft, the 12m-tall Kidz Amaze is one of Singapore's largest indoor playgrounds and has one of the longest spiral slides in Asia. It also has one of the tallest foam ball arenas ever built. Inside the play structure are multiple foam ball guns that children can use to shoot targets situated all around the central well.

Swimming Pool

Built to serve people of all ages, the clubhouse's swimming pool features a series of interactive water attractions like the play pool with a tipping bucket that sends cascades of water crashing down at regular intervals, a toddler's gecko pond (above, far right), a children's training pool, as well as a lap pool for serious swimmers.

EnergyOne Gym

With a view of Jurong Central Park and the clubhouse's pool, users of the gym will be able to work out and enjoy the scenery at the same time. Besides a spacious main hall and a mezzanine level where group exercise classes and circuit training will be conducted, there is also a steam room and jacuzzi.

K Box

K Box's outlet at SAFRA Jurong features a retro theme and 28 KTV rooms. The outlet will also display artifacts in line with the theme.
