Keeping on top of current affairs is a must for Ms Peh. As an analyst at the Singapore Armed Forces' OSC, she scours the world's media to stay abreast of the latest military happenings.

"My job is to monitor news and information related to global military and security developments, as well as natural disasters around the world.

We do research through open source print, television and online news."

Travelling is one of her passions, and her wanderlust has taken her around the world, where she savours the local food and culture of the various cities that she finds herself in.

Besides venturing to Taipei recently to sample the city's cuisine, the jet-setter has travelled extensively around Europe. "I've been to the Douro region in Portugal to sip port wine, to Spain to enjoy pintxos (small bar bites served throughout Spain's Basque country), and to Berlin to relive her history."

A foodie, she likes to not only try out new dishes, but also create a few of her own. "A recent dish I made was truffle beef shepherd's pie. I brought it to the office for my colleagues to try and it received good reviews!"

"I love to cook for small groups of friends. Some of them call me a domestic goddess," she added with a chuckle.
