NAVY HAS NEW FLEET COMMANDER

Rear-Admiral (RADM) Joseph Leong took over as the Republic of Singapore Navy's (RSN's) Fleet Commander from RADM Ng Chee Peng, at a Change of Command ceremony at Changi Naval Base on 4 Dec.
In his farewell speech, RADM Ng, who is also Chief of Staff - Naval Staff,
urged all members of the Fleet family to continue to give their support to RADM Leong, and expressed confidence that under the new leadership, the Fleet will rise to even greater heights .
RADM Leong is no stranger to the Fleet family. His previous appointments in the Navy included Commander Headquarters First Flotilla and Commanding Officer of 188 Squadron which operates the Victory-class missile corvettes. He was also Head Joint Plans Department.
From March to May 2006, RADM Leong led the RSN's mission to the Northern Arabian Gulf as Commander Task Group, to aid in the international reconstruction efforts in Iraq.
In his inaugural speech as Fleet Commander, RADM Leong said he would build on the foundation established by his predecessors and move forward boldly to bring the Fleet forward.
