INDONESIAN DEFENCE MINISTER VISITS DPM TEO

The Indonesian Minister of Defence, Dr Purnomo Yusgiantoro, was treated to an inspection of a Guard-of-Honour contingent as he called on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean at the Ministry of Defence on 7 May. Dr Purnomo also called on President S R Nathan and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana.

Upon arrival at the Ministry of Defence, Dr Purnomo reviewed a Guard-of-Honour contingent. Dr Purnomo, who is on a two-day introductory trip to Singapore, visited Paya Lebar Air Base and the Singapore Technologies Kinetics yesterday.

During the visit, Commander-in-Chief of the Indonesian National Defence Forces General Djoko Santoso, who is part of Dr Purnomo's delegation, co-chaired the 13th Combined Annual Report Meeting with Chief of Defence Force Major-General Neo Kian Hong. At the meeting, both chairmen reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation between the Singapore Armed Forces and Indonesian National Defence Forces in areas of mutual benefit. The meeting oversees the full range of interactions between the two armed forces. Dr Purnomo's visit underscores the excellent and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Indonesia. The armed forces of the two countries interact regularly through bilateral exercises and other professional exchanges.
