Birthdays are always special, especially when a small country like Singapore celebrates 40 years of nation-building.

Thousands of Singaporeans gathered at the Carnival@Marina on 8 Aug for the countdown to National Day, celebrating with various artistes like K-One, F.I.R, Tanya Chua, Rui En and Taufik.

With singing, dancing, music and lights, the festivities carried on till the wee hours of the morning.

The Prime Minister, Mr Lee Hsien Loong, leading the countdown to Singapore's 40th birthday.

Rui En was one of the many performers at the Countdown party.

Fireworks welcomed in the nation's birthday.
