FOREIGN BOSSES SHOW SUPPORT FOR NSMAN EMPLOYEE

While many local employers have been strongly supporting their National Servicemen (NSmen) employees over the years, foreign bosses too are showing that they are firm supporters of NS.

This was evident at the Army's Lieutenant (LTA) to Captain (CPT) promotion ceremony on 9 Dec.

Despite their busy schedule, Nomura Singapore Ltd's associate director Kan Nomura and Tsukasa Miyachi took time off to witness the promotion of their employee, CPT (NS) Loo See Yuen.

"Their presence here today shows that they are very supportive of me," said CPT (NS) Loo, who is an assistant logistics officer at Headquarters, Armour.

In the two years that CPT (NS) Loo has been with Nomura Singapore Ltd, he has gone for two stints of in-camp training (ICT).

And there was "not even the slightest complaint" from his two bosses.

Said Mr Nomura: "I'm quite impressed that Singapore has a system of National Service. I'm proud of my colleague who has been promoted in this ceremony."

Mr Miyachi, Head of Asia Investment Advisory Department, Nomura Singapore Ltd, added that CPT (NS) Loo had earned their support.

"He is very punctual and I think he has performed very well in our company," he said.

In fact, Mr Miyachi even suggested that NS had moulded CPT (NS) Loo to be such a capable employee.

"I think all young Singaporeans have loyalty for the nation," said Mr Miyachi, who added that this was something Japanese youths could learn.
