DR NG ENG HEN TO CHAIR RECORD IV
11 Aug 2005
The Fourth Committee to Recognise the Contribution of Operationally-Ready National Servicemen (NSmen) to Total Defence (RECORD IV) will convene soon to consider what further measures can be taken to recognise the contributions of NSmen.
RECORD IV will be chaired by Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Defence, Dr Ng Eng Hen.
RECORD I was convened in 1990. Its recommendations included public recognition for NSmen, improving communications, strengthening the command chain, motivating leaders, and administrative improvements to the NS training system.
Convened in 1995, the recommendations by RECORD II included more broad-based recognition for NSmen, recognising those who put in greater effort or contribute more, enhancing the contribution of NSmen and enhancing employers' support.
RECORD III was convened in 2001. The committee examined issues from NSmen's perspective and focused on improvements to NS administration and NS management processes.
