The funpack, a well-sought after and popular item every year on National Day, will be available to those who are not attending the parade this year.

Members of the public can choose to apply for either NDP tickets or funpack coupons.

Due to the limited 25,000 seating capacity at the Padang, this novel move is a bid to get Singaporeans more involved in this year's National Day celebrations.

Some 20,000 funpacks will be distributed at three heartland venues at Jurong East, Tampines and Yishun, where carnivals will be held to replicate the jubilant mood at the Padang.

A team of six students from Temasek Polytechnic came up with the design of the funpacks, which come in green, orange, blue and red colours.

A collectible item, a specially designed interactive CD-ROM created by two other students from Temasek Polytechnic, will be included in the funpack.

To commemorate Singapore's 40 years of nation-building, NDP songs, photographs of previous NDPs, games, screensavers, wallpapers and ringtones will included in the CD-ROM.

To apply for either Celebration@Heartlands funpack coupons or NDP tickets for Parade@Padang in five different ways: Short Message Service (SMS), telephone, the NDP website (www.ndp.org.sg), AXS stations or SAM machines.

If successful, you will be notified by phone.

The balloting system is adopted again this year as it is not only open and transparent, but also an efficient means of distribution.

Application of NDP tickets or funpack coupons start from Fri, 27 May and ends on Sun, 5 Jun.


Here are some tips on how to apply via SMS:

Step 1: Go to "Write/Create Message" under Message Function.

Step 2: Key in "NDP" for National Day Parade on 9 Aug,
or "PREVIEW" for NDP Preview on 30 Jul.

To obtain funpack coupons in the Celebration@Heartlands, key in "JURONGEAST" for Celebration@Jurong East, "TAMPINES" for Celebration@Tampines or "YISHUN" for Celebration@Yishun.

Step 3: Key in NRIC number,

Step 4: Enter "SC" for Singapore Citizens and "PR" for Singapore Permanent Residents.

Step 5: To apply for 2, 4 or 6 tickets/coupons, send to 40892, 40894 or 40896 respectively
