Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army (RTA), General (GEN) Anupong Paojinda, was conferred Singapore's prestigious military award, the Meritorious Service Medal (Military), by Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean at the Ministry of Defence on 22 Jan.

GEN Anupong was presented with the award in recognition of his outstanding contributions in enhancing the strong ties between the Singapore Army and the Royal Thai Army.

A strong and forward-looking leader, GEN Anupong has facilitated the close cooperation between the two countries through a wide spectrum of activities such as professional exchanges, courses, and the bilateral exercise, Kocha Singa.

Such interactions serve to promote professionalism among personnel of both armies and broaden their understanding of cross-cultural intricacies.

Prior to the investiture, GEN Anupong also called on Mr Teo, Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Desmond Kuek and Chief of Army Major-General Neo Kian Hong.
