Akash Ravinran has never been to a National Day Parade (NDP), so when he was offered a chance to do so, he jumped at the opportunity.

This opportunity came as part of an annual event called the National Education (NE) Show, a preview of the NDP, which primary school students are invited to attend. This year over 18,000 students from 62 schools watched the show.

Akash and his friends at St Joseph's Institution Junior had been looking forward to this for a while.

The NE Show, held on 14 Jul, featured most, if not all, of the segments that would be appearing in the NDP proper. Amongst these were various performances as well as the crowd-favourite, Commando Red Lions' free-fall.

The eleven-year-old could barely contain his enjoyment of the show as he commented that "everything was really exciting and interesting"; adding that his favourite segment was the fireworks.

"I want to come here every year. Everyone I know was really excited about it!" said Akash.
