1WO Ho has played squash for 37 years.
1WO Ho with the champion trophies of the 2017 and 2018 Public Service STAR Games Squash Tournament.

For those who are unfamiliar with squash, the game is played in an indoor court. Each game can be played by either two players (singles) or four players (doubles).

A competitive squash match can last for an hour. To win the game, players need to reach the required amounts of sets determined before the start of the match. Most sets are best of five games, so the first pair to hit that number wins.

Playing squash regularly has helped to boost 1WO Ho’s fitness.

"You need endurance, agility and speed to be able to play competitively in squash," explained 1WO Ho.

Watch the video below as he shares how he got into the sport, and get tips on picking up squash:

In case you can’t watch the video, here are the tips that 1WO Ho mentioned:

  1. Get a qualified coach to learn how to hold the squash racket in the correct position to avoid injuries

  2. Invest in a good and reasonably-priced racket to reduce vibrations that can cause tennis elbow.

  3. Get a good pair of court shoes. Not all shoes are made to play squash in – running shoes with high cushioned soles increase the chance of spraining your ankle.
