PRESIDENT NATHAN OPENS CARNIVAL@MARINA

President S R Nathan officially opened the Carnival@Marina on 6 Aug.

Together with more than 20,000 visitors, the President viewed a dynamic show featuring men and equipment from the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the Home Team.

This 20-minute show demonstrates the operational capabilities of the two agencies in providing defence and internal security for Singapore.

Here, we follow President Nathan as he tours the other displays and exhibits at the Carnival, which consists of two sections - the Total Defence Showcase and the Celebrate Singapore Festival:




Carnival@Marina is on from 6 Aug - 14 Aug.
The carnival is open from 10am to 11pm daily with the Total Defence Showcase operating from 10am to 7pm and the Celebrate Singapore Festival from 10am to 11pm.

Getting there:
Take the MRT to Marina South station, and then hop onto bus No. 400 or 400A.
Or you can take a river taxi from Clifford Pier ($4 a ride).
Please note that private vehicles will be not allowed into the area.


Together with Minister for Defence, Mr Teo Chee Hean, and Chief of Defence Force, LG Ng Yat Chung, President Nathan opens Carnival@Marina.
President Nathan launches 'Today in History', a commemorative book celebrating Singapore's 40th birthday.
Before launching the fireworks display at the Carnival, Singapore Idol Taufik Batisah and Rui En entertain the crowd with this year's National Day song, 'Reach Out For The Skies'.
President Nathan views prize-winning pictures at the Total Defence Photo Exhibition.
At the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief section, President Nathan pauses for a moment to remember Singapore's relief efforts to aid the Boxing Day tsunami victims.
At the Global Village, part of the Celebrate Singapore Festival, President Nathan meets with officials from the High Commission of Negara Brunei Darussalam, and shares Singapore's birthday joy with our friends from our neighbouring countries.
