Members of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Defence and Foreign Affairs (GPC-DFA) learned more about the Singapore Armed Forces' (SAF) Military Police (MP) Command when they visited its headquarters in Mowbray Camp on 2 May.

During the visit, hosted by Minister of State for Defence Koo Tsai Kee, the Committee members gained valuable insights into the history, training and roles of the MP Command.

Ms Indranee Rajah, Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar GRC who chairs the GPC-DFA, noted that, with the heightened threat of terrorism, the "business of defending Singapore is no longer just an external thing". Hence she lauded the strong ties that MP Command shared with the Singapore Police Force.

Mr Hawazi Daipi, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Manpower and Member of Parliament for Sembawang GRC, was impressed by the work of the MPs. He said: "I have confidence that they will be able to carry out the various types of jobs very well; I have only praise to give to the Command."

MINDEF regularly organises such visits to update GPC-DFA members on the developments of the SAF and its operations.
