The New Zealand Chief of Defence Force, Lieutenant-General (LG) Jeremiah Mateparae, called on Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean at the Ministry of Defence on 20 Aug.

LG Mateparae is in Singapore for an introductory visit from 19 to 20 Aug.

While in Singapore, he will visit Changi Naval Base and Changi Air Base.

LG Mateparae's visit reflects the close and long-standing defence relationship between Singapore and New Zealand.

The Singapore Armed Forces and the New Zealand Defence Force conduct frequent joint exercises, visits and other professional activities.

The two defence establishments also interact regularly in a multilateral context as members of the Five Power Defence Arrangements.
