NEW CHIEF FOR REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE AIR FORCE

Brigadier-General (BG) Ng Chee Khern will take over as Chief of Air Force from Major-General (MG) Lim Kim Choon on 24 Mar.

A Singapore Armed Forces (Overseas) and President's scholar, BG Ng, who is currently Chief of Staff (Air Staff), holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hon 2nd Upper) degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Oxford.

He also has a Master of Public Administration degree from Harvard University.

BG Ng joined the SAF in 1984 and has held several appointments, including Commanding Officer of the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF)'s 149 Squadron, Commander of Tengah Air Base, and Director of Joint Operations and Planning Directorate.

MG Lim has been at the helm of the RSAF since April 2001.

As Chief of Air Force, he boosted the capabilities of the RSAF through various developmental programmes. These included the introduction of new platforms like the F-15SG fighter jets, Apache helicopters and Sea Hawk helicopters.

MG Lim also helped to modernise and transform the RSAF through new logistics and manpower policies.

In addition, he forged a network of close working relations with foreign air forces, and directed the RSAF's humanitarian aid missions in Aceh after the tsunami, and in New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
