MINDEF AND SAF COMMEMORATE NATIONAL DAY
08 Aug 2007
Some 2000 personnel from the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), led by Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean, came together to commemorate Singapore's 42nd year of independence at a National Day Observance Ceremony held in MINDEF on 8 Aug.
Together with children from the SAF Child Care Development Centre (CDC), artists from the SAF Music and Drama Company (MDC) performed a musical, "Celebrate Singapore, a City of Possibilities", and led the audience in a sing-along of a medley of national songs.
The ceremony ended with everyone reciting the National Pledge and singing the National Anthem.
Also present at the event were Second Minister for Defence Ng Eng Hen, Minister of State for Defence Koo Tsai Kee, and senior officials from MINDEF and the SAF.
All SAF units, including SAF training detachments, also held observance ceremonies.
