Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army General Joginder Jaswant Singh called on Minister for Manpower and Acting Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen on 16 March as part of his introductory visit to Singapore from 15 to 18 Mar.

He also called on Permanent Secretary (Defence) Mr Chiang Chie Foo, Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Ng Yat Chung and Chief of Army Major-General Desmond Kuek.

During his visit, General Singh will visit the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Centre for Military Experimentation, Basic Military Training Centre and Headquarters Singapore Artillery.

His visit underscores the warm and growing defence relations between Singapore and India. Both the SAF and Indian Armed Forces conduct regular interactions and are currently conducting bilateral armour and artillery exercises in India from 4 Feb to 7 Apr.

The two armies also interact regularly through exchanges of visits, cross-attendance of courses and seminars, and other professional exchanges.
